Granite United Way COVID-19 Donations Support Local Youth in the Central Region
Granite United Way’s COVID-19 Relief Fund has been supporting youth in the Central Region, including the GOT LUNCH! Laconia program, a grassroots organization focused on feeding children in Laconia.
The Samuel P. Pardoe Foundation directed $70,000 of their $100,000 donation to support nonprofit organizations in the Central Region. This support included $25,000 for the GOT LUNCH! Laconia’s 15-week response to the immediate needs of local children.
Over the last month, GOT LUNCH Laconia has distributed more than nearly 2,000 bags of groceries so children they will have breakfast, lunch and dinner on the weekends. They plan to continue the program through the end of the school year when their regular summer program would begin.
“When I got the Granite United Way's email that they were donating $25,000 - I have to admit I cried,” said Pastor Paula Gile, a GOT LUNCH! Laconia Advisory Board Member. “It is so wonderful to be a part of a community that cares and puts their finances behind taking care of the children in this community.”
