The Impact of Nonprofit Partnerships
Meadowstone Farm, a community-centered farm producing a variety of vegetables and meats, aligns its mission with Granite United Way, emphasizing community support, building partnerships, and long-term sustainability.
Meadowstone Farm and Granite United Way aim to strengthen our community economically and socially, looking towards creating a strong foundation for the future. They collaborate with local schools, nonprofits, and other organizations to increase awareness of local food production and its impact on the community.
What is Meadowstone Farm?
Meadowstone Farm has been part of the North Country community since 2004. We grow about 70 or 80 different varieties of vegetables and we produce pork and beef. We also raise chickens for eggs and goats for goat cheese. We do a lot with our food waste collection and we provide produce to local restaurants and grocery stores as well as food pantries and summer lunch programs.
How does Meadowstone Farm support the local community?
We want to be a center for community and agriculture and want to be accessible to everyone. We partner with schools and nonprofits in the community to strengthen awareness around how local food is grown and raised. We encourage people to think about the food that they're putting into their bodies. and the impact it can have on a local community.
Why do you support Granite United Way?
My wife and I are big supporters of everything Granite United Way has done, not only in the North Country, but throughout the state. We love that Grant United Way has the ability to bring different organizations to the same table to work together. Not only that but Granite United Way also provides the support for that work to happen.
What does Granite United Way mean to you?
To me, Granite United Way means community support and building partnerships and that is increasingly more important in the kind of divided world we are currently living in. Granite United Way asks communities what they need and then works on the back end to help provide a solution.
Why should others make a donation to Granite United Way?
Giving to Granite United Way is a way to strengthen your community. I think of the partnership they have with AHEAD and how they are supporting affordable housing. I think of their partnership with the Boys and Girls Club and how they are supporting our youth.
How are Granite United Way and Meadowstone Farm’s missions similar?
Our missions are very similar, it's all about how can create and maintain partnerships that strengthen our community both economically and socially and in such a way that can be sustained. We're not just looking for today or tomorrow, both of our organizations are looking five, ten, fifteen, twenty years down the road. We want to create this foundation so that in 20 years we'll have strong, vibrant communities, existing in the North Country and in New Hampshire.
