Orr & Reno: Promoting a Culture of Volunteerism & Community Support
Granite United Way’s Day of Caring, our largest annual volunteer event, is held throughout our seven regions each September. Businesses, agencies, and community members come together to give back through a variety of volunteer projects. Events like this would not be possible without the support of our corporate sponsors like Orr & Reno.
Orr & Reno, a law firm in Concord, New Hampshire, was founded in 1946 by Dudley Orr and Bob Reno. More than 76 years later, the firm has 60 employees, including 36 lawyers. Although their office is in Concord, their services span the State and, in some practice areas, the Country, providing legal representation to businesses and individuals.
One of their founding principles is providing community support to individuals and businesses throughout the region. They practice this principal in the work that they do every day, but also in providing opportunities for their staff to give back to our community. Their attorneys serve on boards, committees, and as volunteers for a variety of nonprofits across New Hampshire, such as the Boys and Girls Club, Capitol Center for the Arts, Concord Hospital, and Granite United Way.
Orr & Reno has partnered with Granite United Way in a variety of ways for over 20 years, serving on our Board of Directors, volunteering for events such as Day of Caring, and donating through their Workplace Campaign. Bob Carey, Treasurer and Shareholder of Orr and Reno, shared that the relationship between the law firm and Granite United Way comes naturally since we serve and support the same communities.
“Our lawyers and staff choose to give back because we see the value. We want the communities we live and work in to thrive,” said Carey. “When businesses look out for the community they work in, the community looks out for them.”
Orr & Reno has practiced their principle in giving back to the community for over 76 years. Bob said it was gratifying to see the firm’s young lawyers continue this service tradition by getting involved in the community.
Thanks to our generous sponsors like Orr & Reno, Granite United Way has successfully reintroduced our in-person Day of Caring events this month.
