Join Your Local Day of Caring Volunteer Committee
Day of Caring is our largest community-wide volunteer event engaging hundreds of volunteers across the state of New Hampshire. Volunteer groups made up of co-workers, friends, and family spend the day helping to complete local nonprofit wishlist projects. This annual event would not be possible without the Day of Caring planning committees who help coordinate each event in our seven regions.
Day of Caring is a great opportunity to give back to our community while building camaraderie with your co-workers and other volunteers! Email volunteer@graniteuw.org for more information on joining your local Day of Caring Committee.

What do you love most about Day of Caring
I love being involved with United Way's Day of Caring because it's a way of giving back to the nonprofits that support the community and help people. I volunteer during the Day of Caring and find it incredibly rewarding. My team from the Merrimack County Department of Corrections has volunteered at Riverbend for gardening, the Homeless Center in Concord, and at the Christa McAuliffe planetarium. Last year, we went to the equine center and worked around the corrals. Our group prefers outdoor work and it's always very gratifying.
Why did you join the Day of Caring Planning Committee?
I've been serving on the Granite United Way Day of Caring Committee for ten years now. I joined because I enjoy collaborating with others who share a common goal of supporting the community, nonprofits, and appreciating the volunteers who dedicate their time on the Day of Caring. The committee meet regularly to help secure volunteer teams, plan the volunteer thank you lunch, and collect donations from community businesses. It's a relatively light lift for the temendous impact that this one day provides our community.
How does Day of Caring make a positive impact in our community?
The Day of Caring brings invaluable support to our community. It assists nonprofit agencies that may not have the means to complete tasks like painting, gardening, or construction. It's wonderful that hundreds of people from the community come together to help. I know that my co-workers appreciate the teamwork and the opportunity to interact outside of work. It's a great way to give back to the community and it also boosts our morale within the agency. Volunteering with Granite United Way is important to me because it allows me to give back to the community, help people, and it's personally gratifying. It makes me feel good to help others.
