Granite United Way's 211 Partners with Safe Station Program
Granite United Way's 211NH initiative has partnered with Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas, the Manchester Fire Department and Hope for New Hampshire Recovery to launch the Safe Station program.
This program will offer individuals dealing with drug or substance misuse disorders a safe place to begin the treatment process. All ten fire houses in Manchester are ready to accept individuals who are seeking treatment and they do not need to worry about arrest or other issues. From that point, the firefighers will connect them with Hope for New Hampshire Recovery Coaches and get them the treatment they need.
Granite United Way's 211NH information & referral line will also play a role in the Safe Station program. Individuals or family members may call 211 and be connected directly to a recovery coach.
"We are proud to partner with Mayor Gatsas, the Manchester Fire Department and Hope for New Hampshire Recovery in this effort. It is an excellent example of taking available resources and collaborating together," said Patrick Tufts, President and CEO of Granite United Way. "As United Way, we recognize that no one organization has the ability to do this work alone. We applaud these efforts and those of our partners in the community like Easter Seals New Hampshire, Serenity Place, Mental Health Center of Manchester, Phoenix House, Child & Family Services and Makin It Happen."
