Granite United Way Announces Josephine Moran a Board Chair

Granite United Way announced that Josephine Moran, President and CEO of Ledyard Bank, has been name Chair of the Board of Directors.
She succeeds Joseph Bator, who will be serving as Immediate Past Chair.
Granite United Way is the single largest United Way in New Hampshire, serving more than 85% of the State and Windsor County, Vermont. The organization covers the Southern Region, Merrimack County, Central Region, Greater Seacoast Region, Upper Valley, North Country and the Northern Region of the state. Granite United Way is rated a Platinum Level Participant from GuideStar and a Four-Star Charity by Charity Navigator, the highest ratings from these two nonprofit watchdog organizations.
“I look forward to working with our volunteer-led Board of Directors and the team at Granite United Way this year,” said Moran, who had previously served as Vice Chair. “As an organization we have the unique ability to adjust to the needs of our community. This has aligned with our Strategic Plan and offered opportunities across all 7 regions we serve.”
The organization delivered over $13 million in support in the past year. More than 600 nonprofit agencies benefited from Granite United Way’s fundraising efforts, helping over 450,000 individuals across New Hampshire and Windsor County, Vermont.

Delivering on strategic promises
Earlier in the year, a change in leadership brought a renewed focus on the strategic goals f Granite United Way. Under Nichole Martin Reimer, MBA, President and CEO, the organization is
commitment to the Strategic Plan remains steadfast with the focus on expanding impact, lifting the nonprofit community, and strengthening stability across all communities. Their key pillars of work include affordable housing, early childhood initiatives, financial empowerment and mental health and substance use.
This year, Granite United Way also exceed its engagement and volunteer goals – mobilizing over 6,025 volunteers across the footprint.
Addressing immediate needs at the local level
Under Reimer’s leadership, Granite United Way’s volunteer Community Impact Committees (CICs) implemented a responsive grant making process this year. This offered local nonprofits the opportunity to apply for funding multiple times a year that supported their immediate needs.
Strategic investments were also made across Granite United Way’s footprint. Investments in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) training and supports, food insecurity issues and supports for the unhoused populations.
“We have been working closely with our nonprofit partners to address their most critical needs, while exploring ways we can collaborate to make impact at scale,” said Reimer. “As local and national issues evolve, we recognize that working together we can position our communities to continue thriving and driving impact.”
