Granite United Way and New Hampshire Charitable Foundation Announce Call for Proposals for Opioid Abatement Community Grants Program Multiyear Grants

Granite United Way (GUW) and the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation (the Foundation) today announced a call for proposals for the Opioid Abatement Community Grants Program (OACGP) Multiyear Grants, a funding opportunity designed to support long-term, high-impact initiatives that address the ongoing opioid crisis and strengthen community recovery across New Hampshire.
The OACGP Multiyear Grants will provide up to $75,000 a year over a one- to two-year period to support projects that advance prevention, treatment, recovery, overdose prevention, and community capacity-building. These project grants are intended for initiatives that require longer term investment to achieve meaningful, lasting change — particularly efforts that strengthen local systems, expand access to evidence-informed services, reduce stigma, and improve outcomes for individuals, families, and communities.
Funding for the Opioid Abatement Community Grants Program comes from national opioid settlement agreements and is dedicated to supporting community healing, recovery, and prevention across New Hampshire. Granite United Way is administering the program on behalf of the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services and the Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission. Through this program, $10 million in settlement funds will be invested over two years to address the harms of the opioid crisis across New Hampshire. In Fall 2025, Granite United Way launched the OACGP Short-Term Responsive Grants which awards to $15,000 for timely projects that address emerging needs, fill gaps, or strengthen community capacity. The OACGP Multiyear Grants opportunity is offered through a partnership between Granite United Way and the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation that brings together complementary strengths in community engagement philanthropic stewardship, and program administration. Under this partnership:
• Granite United Way serves as the program lead for the Opioid Abatement Community Grants Program, overseeing program implementation, and issuing all grant agreements and payments; and
• New Hampshire Charitable Foundation develops and administers the multiyear grant application and reporting process through its GrantSource system and supports due diligence, monitoring, and learning over the two-year grant period.
“The multiyear grants are about investing in recovery and resilience, not just responding to crisis,” said Shannon Swett, Chief Impact Officer at Granite United Way. “By supporting longer-term initiatives, we are helping communities build and enhance the systems, partnerships, and capacity they need to create lasting change.”
“This partnership is an innovative approach that pairs deep community knowledge with philanthropic infrastructure across both organizations,” said Traci Fowler, initiative leader for behavioral health at the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. “Working together with Granite United Way and our state partners, we can support thoughtful, evidence-informed investments that reflect both community priorities and responsible stewardship of these important opioid settlement resources.”
Nonprofit organizations, municipalities, and community-based partnerships working in New Hampshire are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to proposals that:
• Demonstrate strong community partnerships and collaboration,
• Align with the grant program’s strategic priorities and use evidence-informed practices,
• Remove barriers and increase access to services, and
• Show clear potential for meaningful and measurable impact.
The call for proposals opens Monday, January 26, 2026, and applications must be submitted through the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation’s GrantSource portal by February 18, 2026.
