Concord Plan to End Homelessness
CONCORD (December 5, 2013) – Mayor Bouley and a Steering Committee of Concord business leaders, non-profit executives, chiefs of police and fire and members of the Concord Coalition to End Homelessness have been working together to create a collaborative plan for Concord Homelessness. This planning process began early this year. The process included community meetings and surveys, reviewing successful approaches in other communities and researching available data on numbers of homeless people in Concord and current services available.
Co-Chairs of the Steering Committee are David Frydman, Esq., General Counsel for HealthTrust NH and Patrick Tufts, President & CEO of Granite United Way. A draft plan is now available for public comment on the City of Concord's website www.concordnh.gov and Granite United Way's site at www.graniteuw.org (under news). Comments and recommendations may be submitted to concordhomeless@graniteuw.org through December 10, 2014.
"We worked to make this process as inclusive as possible for people who live and work in Concord. We were mindful of the concerns of residents and visitors to our City and created this plan to work to eradicate issues brought to our attention by the community and the homeless themselves.", said Mayor Jim Bouley. "I believe this draft plan is an excellent start to a collaborative and significant movement to create a more effective and efficient system in helping the homeless."
The draft of Concord's homeless planning document is available as a link below. The pubic is strongly encouraged to provide feedback as a community response is critical in creating a workable solution.
The public is also encouraged to attend the next Steering Committee meeting on Tuesday, December 10th at 6:00 p.m. at Concord City Council Chambers at 41 Green Street. A portion of this meeting will be dedicated to public comment.
