City of Manchester Receives RWJF Culture of Health Prize
Granite United Way is excited to announce that the City of Manchester has recently been awarded the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Prize.
The City of Manchester was selected as one of seven winners of the 2016 RWJF Culture of Health Prize awarded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the nation’s largest philanthropy devoted solely to health. The prize honors communities for their efforts to ensure all residents have the opportunity to live longer, healthier, and more productive lives. The City was chosen from a group of nearly 200 applicants across the country.
This award reflects our community-wide, targeted work to address the opioid and heroin epidemic, our efforts to develop community schools, and our collaboration with other funders and community partners to address complex problems in new ways. This is the first time this prestigious award has been presented in New Hampshire. It is a tribute to and reflection of the $1.5 million investment made by Granite United Way’s local volunteers in the City of Manchester’s Neighborhood Health Improvement Strategy (NHIS,) the blueprint for improving health outcomes in the city. This national recognition by such a renowned foundation shows that United Way’s commitment to working together and creating real solutions to big problems works.
