The Impact of Our North Country Partnerships
In the North Country, Granite United Way is investing in:
Safe and affordable housing: we convene the Homelessness Coalition, a monthly cohort of town employees, food pantries, and nonprofits that meet to address needs related to housing insecurity.
Early childhood needs: donations have helped to establish new childcare centers at the Boys and Girls Club of Central and the Northern Region in Lisbon, NH, and at White Mountain Community College in Berlin, NH.
Lifting up Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive nonprofits like: Women’s Entrepreneurial Rural Network (WERN) that strengthens innovation & economic development in the North Country and North Country Pride who provides education, resources, and support the LGBTQ+ community in the North Country This work can’t be done by one organization alone.
It’s thanks to our donors, volunteers, and community partners in the North Country that we can all make such a tremendous impact.
Rebecca Metcalf, a dedicated Granite United Way volunteer is passionate about community service and the impact it makes in the North Country. One of her most memorable experiences was our annual Day of Caring at Copper Cannon camp in Bethlehem, NH. By the end of the day, Rebecca and her team had accomplished what felt like a summer's worth of work in just one day. Rebecca believes that everyone should volunteer with Granite United Way at some point. For her, it's more than just the work—it's about the fulfillment that comes from service. She views it as a way to meet like-minded people and learn about the needs of the community. Volunteering, according to Rebecca, is a forward path to bettering ourselves and improving the lives of those around us. Her experience is a testament to the power of volunteering, and a call to action for others to get involved and make a difference in their community.
Ian Dowling and Marlaina Rentin, owners of Rek-Lis Brewing Company, have partnered with Granite United Way for a number of years to make a significant impact on their local community. They love their the local community and are always coming up with new ways to help raise donations for Granite United Way and other local nonprofits. Each year, Rek-Lis brews a batch of beer and donate a percentage of those sales to a nonprofit. To raise awareness for the cause, the label on the beer will also always talk about that nonprofit's mission. Ian & Marlaina recognize the important role that local businesses play in connecting people to the services that are available in their community through Granite United Way.
Tim Wennrich, owner of Meadowstone Farm, is a passionate advocate for community support and collaboration.
