Littleton Winter Shelter Extends Support Through March Thanks to Donor Support
In response to growing community needs, the Littleton Winter Shelter opened its doors on January 21, 2025, providing crucial emergency shelter services to unhoused adults during the harsh northern New Hampshire winter.
Located at 18 Pleasant Street, this low-barrier shelter operates nightly from 7 PM, offering warmth and safety to vulnerable community members regardless of age, sex, or other potential barriers that might limit access to traditional shelters.
With a capacity of 10 beds and separate accommodations for men and women, the facility is the result of a collaborative effort between North Country nonprofits, churches, businesses, and concerned citizens.
Services at the shelter include:
- 24-hour staffing with trained personnel
- Medical emergency response protocols
- Harm reduction measures, particularly crucial during extreme weather conditions
Granite United Way supporters hosted Peer to Peer Fundriasers along side other community donors to help the shelter to remain operational until April 1st, serving as a vital lifeline for those who might otherwise face dangerous winter temperatures without shelter.
