Bill Sherry Honored by the General Federation of Women's Clubs NH
Granite United Way announced that Bill Sherry was honored with a President’s Award for a lifetime of community service during the General Federation of Women’s Clubs – NH’s annual Unity Awards Dinner on Friday, May 17, 2024 at the Grappone Center in Concord.
The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) is an International Women’s Community Service Organization which has been organized in New Hampshire for over 128 years. Bill Sherry was Awarded the GFWC-NH President’s Unity Award last Saturday for his outstanding Life Long Service to New Hampshire Communities State wide.
“Bill is always at the center of volunteering and professional service to NH Communities. He has volunteered for years with the American Cancer Society, and as a Paul Harris Fellow with the Salem Rotary Club. With his past professional work with public utilities, he assisted the Sate and Salem through many state wide natural disasters. Today he works for Granite United Way where he has served as Chief Operating Officer and Public Policy lead there for almost 10 years. As President of the GFWC-NH, we were honored to award Bill Sherry our GFWC-NH Unity Life Long Achievement Award for his tireless giving back to the communities of NH local and state wide”. Sherry leads advocacy efforts at Granite United Way and has been a key leader in the organization’s evolution. He was recognized at the event for a lifetime of community service and his work at Granite United Way, including overseeing the 211 NH call center and initiatives to help address access to critical needs like housing, health care, legal assistance and food insecurity.
“Bill has made a significant impact on lives across New Hampshire throughout his career and personal volunteerism. He is passionate about improving living conditions across all regions,” said Patrick Tufts, President and CEO of Granite United Way. “His work at 211 NH has helped thousands of New Hampshire residents connect with resources around housing, critical mental health and substance use disorder supports. We congratulate Bill on being recognized for his leadership in these areas.”
In addition to recognizing Sherry, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs NH made a generous $5,000 gift to Granite United Way in his honor.
