AmeriHealth Caritas NH Partners with Local Organizations on Manchester Winter Relief Fund
Feb152023

AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire, a Medicaid managed care plan dedicated to helping the underserved receive care, stay well, and build healthy communities, is stepping up to support relief efforts for people experiencing homelessness in the City of Manchester. The plan recently contributed $9,500 to the Manchester Winter Relief Fund, which will help to address the immediate needs of individuals who lack stable housing.
While shelter and services for people experiencing homelessness are vital all year long, recent frigid temperatures across the state have made outdoor conditions potentially life-threatening for the city’s homeless population.
“Building healthy communities for AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire means addressing challenges and barriers around many social determinants of health, including housing,” said AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire Market President Bill Keena. “We’re proud to support this collaborative effort to bring Manchester’s unhoused population indoors and provide them with the supports and services they need.”
Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig and Patrick Tufts, President of Granite United Way, were on hand to thank the organization’s leadership to help those who are struggling during the cold weather.
“Homelessness and housing are complex issues, and we must take an all hands-on deck approach to address them. Thank you to AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire for helping us meet the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness this winter and for their commitment to assist our most vulnerable community members.” said Mayor Joyce Craig.
“We are thankful to AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire for stepping up and providing funds that will make an impact of the relief needed for those seeking shelter and services this season,” said Patrick Tufts. “The complex issues we are addressing require a collaborative spirit that no one organization is going to be able to solve.”
