Frigid Weather Coming - Emergency Warming Shelter Announced
The temperatures are taking a plunge and Granite United Way encourages everyone to plan accordingly. Please take precautions to keep you and your loved ones safe during the particularly cold weather. Earlier today Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas announced that there would be an emergency warming shelter available in the city. The emergency warming shelter will open at 351 Chestnut Street. The shelter is being operated in conjunction with New Horizons for New Hampshire. Individuals in need of shelter are instructed to check-in at the New Horizons Shelter located at 199 Manchester Street. The emergency warming shelter will be staffed beginning this evening Wednesday, January 7, 2015 through Friday, January 9, 2015 from 6pm to 7:30am daily. Those seeking shelter or basic needs throughout New Hampshire and Vermont are encouraged to call 211. Referral specialists are available to assist throughout the cold snap.
